Is the DJI Mini 2 Propeller Guards Worth It? 

Yes! The DJI Mini 2 360 Propeller Guards provide all round protection and are a great way to start practising with the drone and flying indoors / in tight situations. 

Is there a monitor hood to block the sunlight and glare? 

There is nothing worse than not being able to see your phone screen in the sunlight. Here the DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller hood prevents the sunlight and glare hitting your screen. 

How do you best protect the bottom of the DJI Mini 2? 

There are two ways to protect the bottom of the drone (with all the important sensors) which are to either use the PGYTECH Landing Gear Extensions or a Landing Pad, both have their pros and cons however most get both and use them depending on the scenario. 

If there is gravel, rocks, water = PGYTECH Landing Gear Extensions.
If there is loose dirt, sand, grass = Landing Pad in either 55 or 75cm.

General FAQ

What is the weight of the DJI Mini 2? 

The DJI Mini 2 including the battery, propellers and a micro SD card is 242 grams, which is below the common 250 gram threshold for flying without registration. 

Does the DJI Mini 2 come with internal storage? 

Unfortunately the DJI Mini 2 does not come with an SD Card and the Combo does NOT include an SD Card. A MicroSD Card is required if you want to store images, videos and access QuickShots. It is recommended to use the following SD Cards: 

Samsung Evo Plus 128 GB
Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB

Does the DJI Mini 2 Support Return To Home? 

Yes. Double check your surroundings before hitting RTH and ensure the appropriate RTH altitude is selected. This is especially important as the DJI Mini 2 does not support obstacle avoidance. 

How does the DJI Mini 2 differ compared to the Mavic Mini? 

The DJI Mini 2 has orange tipped propellers, additional front LED light bar, 4K printed on the lens, a clickable button on the rear and has stiffer arms without the foam found on the original Mavic Mini. 

Operation + Controller

Can you use the Mavic Mini / Mavic Mini SE Controller with DJI Mini 2? 

Unfortunately no as they use a different transmission system. 

How can I Improve the signal and transmission range?

The antennas of the controller are located in the smartphone clamp and they need to pointed directly at the aircraft, therefore you may need to tilt your controller depending how far away the drone is. 

Turn off any unnecessary Bluetooth, mobile data and WiFi from both the phone and neighbouring devices, such as phones, smart watches and other remote controlled devices. 

Ensure to pilot from areas with height. For example if there is a valley and a hill, the Hill will provide better transmission distance due to the surrounding environment. 

What are the advantages of Ocusync 2.0 compared to "enhanced" WiFi?

Ocusync 2.0 is an intelligent transmission system that supports both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequency bands. it features stronger resistance from interference due to how it can automatically switch frequency when in flight, delivering video transmission feeds up to 10km (perfect world when unobstructed, free of interference and FCC-compliant). 

Can I HDMI out from the controller? If not, how can I? 

The standard controller does not support HDMI out. 

The Smart Controller, which is compatible with the DJI Mini 2, does support HDMI out so you can stream to a broadcasting software or to another screen such as a TV or monitor. 

Battery + Flight 

Do the Mini 1 batteries work on the DJI Mini 2? 

Yes, however the power will decrease and the total weight will exceed 250 grams, therefore please proceed with caution if you plan to use the first generation batteries. 

Does the Mini 2 support charging on the go? 

You can charge the DJI Mini 2 on the go with its USB-C power port located at the back of the drone or through the Two Way Charging Hub. 

This means you can charger the DJI Mini 2 from an external power bank, phone car charger or even your car's USB ports. 

What's the Maximum Flight Altitude and Flight TIme?

The maximum flight altitude for the DJI Mini 2 is limited via software to 500m for safety precautions and has a maximum flight time of 31 minutes. 

In Australia, the maximum flight altitude is 120m from ground level. 

How often do I need to change the DJI Mini 2 Propellers?

The things to look out for before each flight are: loose screws, wear, cracks, warping and corrosion.

The Mavic Mini DIY Creative Kit, Mavic Mini Snap Adapter, Mavic Mini Propeller Holder, and Mavic Mini Intelligent Flight Battery are compatible with the DJI Mini 2. This is for the Australian versions of the Mavic Mini batteries and the DJI Mini 2. 

Can the original Mavic Mini Two Way Charging Hub charge the DJI Mini 2 Batteries?

No. Please use either the DJI Mini 2 Two Way Charging Hub or the Cynova Two Way Charging Hub.
