How does the DJI RavenEye Image Transmission System Work?

DJI’s RavenEye Image Transmission System is designed to integrate with the DJI RS2 / RSC2 product line to streamline your workflow. Join us as we break down what RavenEye does, how it works and whether it’s right for you.

What is RavenEye?

Launched alongside the RS2 and RSC2, the RavenEye Image Transmission System is an all-in-one system that integrates with your camera and Ronin to deliver HD video, camera control and ActiveTrack 3.0 to your connected smartphone or tablet with the DJI Ronin app. RavenEye is compatible with RS2, RSC2 and older models including Ronin-S and Ronin-SC.

When connected to the DJI Ronin app, RavenEye allows you to control most of your camera’s settings and controls remotely. RavenEye also allows you to use and control ActiveTrack 3.0 on RS2 and RSC2, making tracking moving subjects much easier.

How does it Work?

The RavenEye Image Transmission System connects to the mounted camera through HDMI. The camera’s video feed is processed by RavenEye and is subsequently delivered in HD to the connected DJI Ronin app through a wi-fi connection. This is all achieved with a latency of just 60ms. The HD connection can extend up to 200m, making it ideal even on larger sets.

Why use RavenEye?

As DJI’s proprietary image transmission system, RavenEye is custom designed to seamlessly integrate into your Ronin video workflow. The system is the hands-down easiest way to view and playback video captured by a Ronin-mounted camera.

By delivering HD video transmission straight to your smartphone or tablet, RavenEye eliminates the need to set up complex video imaging transmission systems. It provides an easy, portable solution that simply snaps straight onto your Ronin. RavenEye’s video feed is also the easiest way for a Director or DP to view live camera feed and provide guidance to your camera operator.

RavenEye is also the only way to access and take advantage of DJI’s fantastic ActiveTrack 3.0 object tracking functionality that auto-tracks your selected subject.

Is RavenEye for me?

If you already operate a Ronin-S/SC product, the RavenEye Image Transmission System is a no-brainer! The system does the job of multiple other expensive components on a traditional set and is perfect for operator/director feedback or for showing clients your live recording.

RavenEye offers an easy, approachable solution that requires no extra gear to integrate into your Ronin system, making it perfect for filmmakers of all levels, whether you’re just making home movies or shooting an action blockbuster.
