Matrice 300 RTK - The New UAV Commercial Standard

DJI Officially released their Matrice 300 RTK this year, 2020. The Matrice 300 RTK is their flagship commercial/enterprise drone that draws inspiration from modern aviation systems and is designed for industrial and commercial applications. The DJI engineers worked to implement brand new features and advanced AI capabilities to make the Matrice 300 RTK an integral tool for UAV applications. The Matrice 300's new payloads and software will help you conduct better surveillance missions and smart inspections than any other commercial drone on the market. 

The Zenmuse H20 and Zenmuse H20T are welcomed additions that allow the magic to happen. In this article, we will go through all the biggest features, it's AI capabilities and more. The article will also touch on the newest payloads that are compatible with it and its main applications.

The range has been dramatically extended along with the flight time to create a more flexible remote controller set-up. This combined with the new AI features allow your missions to be even easier, the drone practically flies itself! Below are the biggest new features of the Matrice 300 RTK.

55 Minute Flight Time  The biggest limitation when it comes to aerial missions is flight time, this is no longer the case with the Matrice 300 RTK. Sporting the new TB60 Intelligent Flight Batteries, the drone can fly up to a maximum of 55 minutes, leaving you plenty of time to complete your mission before you need to swap the batteries over. When completing missions, battery anxiety will be reduced to ensure you won't lose battery at the wrong moment.		15km Range  OcuSync has been improved yet again to provide a strong and reliable broadcast transmission from up to 15 km away. This gives the user greater range to conduct long missions and to be able to fly safely. Just like the consumer OcuSync system, the transmission has real-time auto-switching to prevent any interference of loss of transmission. The transmission image is crystal clear at 1080p
82.8 km/h Speed For certain missions, speed is critical and the DJI Matrice 300RTK is no slouch at a maximum speed of 82.8 km/h. The refined propulsion system and airframe allows you to quickly navigate expansive terrain during time-sensitive operations such as search and rescue, fire rescue and more. With a 7 m/s maximum descend speed, you can easily bring this DJI drone to ground in a quick and very controlled manner.		54 km/h Wind Resistance  It is critical for a drone to be deployed no matter what the wind speed is (up to a limit). The DJI Matrice 300 RTK is one sturdy drone in the air. The redesigned motor positioning has allowed greater stability in the air with a maximum wind resistance of 54 km/h.  This helps give the end user a significantly more efficient, safe and stable flight in even the trickest environments.
IP45 Ingress Protection  Weather is something that may not always be on your side, therefore it was critical for the Matrice 300 RTK to have water ingress protection. Dust and water and seep into the drone, posing a great threat to the drone. Fortunately, the IP45 ingress protection allows this commercial drone to be dust and water resistant. This leaves the pilot free to perform missions in environments no matter what the weather is.
		Omnidirectional Obstacle Avoidance  Sensors, sensors and more sensors is important for a safe, crash free and worry free flight. This commercial drone was built to avoid crashing into obstacles. This will help avoid any damage to the drone, damage to the structure and reduces risk of injury.  This has been made possible with the dual-vision and time of flight sensors on all size sides of the aircraft. This means, the Matrice 300 RTK can detect obstacles up to 40m away.  The omnidirectional obstacle avoidance allows you to safely navigate complicated environments without damaging the aircraft or compromising your mission.

Multi Payload Configuration  Every mission is different to the last. The DJI Matrice 300 RTK has the ability to have a multi-payload configuration. This means no matter how you use the drone, there will be an appropriate payload ready to go. You are able to configure the Matrice 300 RTK with multiple payloads at once in order to complete your mission. The Matrice 300 can mount up to 3 payloads simultaneously with a maximum capacity of 2.7 kg.  There is the ability to have just a single payload, a payload above and below, two downward payloads and the triple threat. The triple threat allows to have two payloads on the bottom and one on the top. This means you can complete multiple missions in one flight, allowing for increased efficiency.

DJI Smart Controller Enterprise  When it comes to controlling the device, the controller needs to have stellar ergonomics, be relatively lightweight and ultrabright. The controller does exactly that by offering a 5.5" 1080p display that is twice as bright as conventional smartphones or tablets at 1000 nits. The Smart Controller Enterprise comes pre-installed with all the essential applications and allows third part applications to be installed. On top of the controller you will find an HDMI output that allows for a live feed to be streamed. The smart controller is also designed for operating in temperatures of -20 to 40 degrees.  The Matrice 300 RTK goes one step further than allowing a dual remote controller set-up where both controllers can be in equal control of the aircraft for greater co-operation and flexibility. One simple strategy is one pilots the aircraft and the other pilots the payload. The secondary operator can take full control of the aircraft flight with a simple touch of the button.
